Sustainably sourced from Antarctic krill oil, Daily Nutra Neptune Krill Oil is our next product up for review. The manufacturer claims that these softgels have no fishy aftertaste. There are further claims that this supplement supports the heart, brain and joints. We examined labels and perused customer reviews in order to compile a comprehensive report on this product. Continue reading this review to see if this is the krill oil supplement choice for you.
This krill oil is certified by Friend of the Sea, which is a project of the World Sustainability Organization. This ensures that this krill oil is sourced from sustainable fisheries and sustainable aquaculture. This is an excellent certification and certainly one we look for in order to ascertain the efficacy of a krill oil supplement. There are, however, many more organizations that offer certifications on krill oil and we would have liked to see them listed here as well.
There is a daily dose of 1000mg krill oil. This is the same amount as the second product we reviewed, but still only half of the dose that is offered in our Editor’s Choice product. This is important to keep in mind as you would need to take double the amount of this product which would increase your monthly costs considerably.
In addition to the krill oil, there are ingredients for the softgel capsules as well as sorbitol and ethyl vanillin to give this product a better taste. While some people may be sensitive to the taste of krill oil, they may appreciate the sweetness of the sorbitol, which is a sugar alcohol. Unfortunately, this is known to cause bowel irritability and digestive distress.
While we were unable to find any reviews on the website, Amazon showed very mixed reviews. We were happy to see that the product comes with a money-back guarantee as many customers have needed to use it.
There are no mentioned side effects of taking this product. As with any new supplement or diet introduced into your daily life, we always advise talking to your healthcare professional about possible contraindications of any pre-existing medical conditions or medications that you are taking. Supplements work differently for everyone and the effects vary between individuals so it is always a good idea to run any health changes with a professional.
We noted that although the manufacturer states that this product has undergone third-party testing, there is no mention of the company that administered this testing.
Daily Nutra Neptune Krill Oil seems to be a quality krill oil product. We like that it is certified by Friends of the Sea to be a safe and sustainable supplement. In addition, it is free of gluten, dairy, corn, soy and nuts. However, it only contains 1000mg of krill oil. This is half the dose that we have seen in other products. As a result, the doses of Omega-3 fatty acids are also lower than needed in order to achieve optimal health benefits. Additionally, the Astaxanthin found in this product is only 100mcg which is a sixth less than our Editor’s Choice product! It was not surprising that many consumers reported that they did not notice a difference when using this supplement. Future customers will be relieved to note that they do have the opportunity to return this product if it does not work for them.
